Shannon McHugh, Psy.D.

Dr. Shannon McHugh is a licensed psychologist in California and New Jersey (as well as having a telehealth registration in Florida), holding a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a primary focus on child and family issues. Her expertise spans assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of family members across all ages. In her private practice, Dr. McHugh conducts psychological assessments and also specializes in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based program designed to help families with young children aged 0-10 manage symptoms of aggression, disruptive behavior, anxiety, and trauma. Committed to making mental health education universally accessible, she has also co-developed The Learn & Burn Explorers, a gamified mental health education program for young children.

Dr. McHugh is also deeply passionate about forensic psychology and protecting children and families who are victims of violence. Through her work with the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT), she conducts child custody and psychological evaluations of both victims and perpetrators.
